Fe y Misericordia

Fe y Misericordia is a foundation inspired by the life of Patrick Bayly Mansano, a kid who had fought bravely against Gliomatosis Cerebri. Misericordia carries the meaning of Faith and Mercy, they cater not only to cancer projects but also help on the well-being of the Peruvians.

MISSION

Fe y Misericordia (FYM) is a non-profit organization created in 2013 in order to bring well-being and hope to the Peruvians who are most in need. We believe that the best way to eliminate poverty, in a sustainable way, is to incorporate the poor people into different value chains that drive the economy.

We contribute to this great goal by generating and participating in self-sustainable development projects and by carrying out direct social assistance activities and improvements in health and education infrastructure.

Cancer is the main cause of death in Peru. Most of the cancers are suitable for radiotherapy treatments but these are very expensive and most of the time unavailable due to the lack of equipment. Currently, they are working with Universidad Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), best known Medicine Faculty in Peru to implement the “Radiotherapy and Image Diagnose Centre Patrick Bayly Marsano”. FYM is to provide the Linear Accelerator and the Tomograph and UPCH the building, doctors, and personnel to run the center.

The aim is to provide excellent radiotherapy treatment to people in need. They have the goal of opening a new center approximately every five years to make available the best technology in this kind of treatment to the poorest people in their country.
